GPC's Western Basin Dredging and Disposal Project held a community information stall at the Calliope Markets last Sunday. Students learn about Gladstone harbour science

Gladstone Central State School students learnt about the science behind the GPC Western Basin Dredging and Disposal Project in the Gladstone harbour last week. As part of the Western Basin Dredging and Disposal Project (WBDDP) schools program, year six and seven students were taught about water turbidity and metals and what it means within the Gladstone harbour.

Cutter suction dredging suspended during high turbidity levels in Gladstone harbour

The Al Mahaar Cutter Suction Dredge operations were reduced on Saturday 5 May and ceased operating at 5.55pm on Sunday 6 May. The recent lunar events have meant a very large tidal range is recorded in the area and is having a significant effect on water turbidity in Gladstone harbour. read more ...

East Shores Project
Gladstone Ports Corporation is developing a master plan for the future redevelopment of land on the eastern bank of Auckland Inlet, known as ‘East Shores’. The plan is to develop a family-friendly environment from the ridge of Auckland Hill to the eastern bank of Auckland Inlet.

This project will deliver a world-class waterfront for Queensland’s most significant port city, including:
 high quality family-friendly recreational areas; 
 additional fishing facilities and extended jetty structure; 
 development of a new ‘side water’ café; 
 a maritime and ports themed exhibition and display area;
 transformation of Flinders Parade into a pedestrian promenade; and
 new car parks.
