Statement on the fishing industry's compensation claim - Tuesday, January 31, 2012
The Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) has always been keen to provide compensation to commercial fishers as required for the loss of access to fishing grounds caused by the Western Basin Dredging Project. GPC’s estimate from fisheries data of the total annual gross revenue from the commercial seafood harvest in the Western Basin is around $350,000 to $400,000. read more ...

Cutter suction dredging stopped - Tuesday, January 24, 2012
As part of the adaptive approach to manage the dredging project, a voluntary suspension of cutter suction dredging is in place. GPC’s Port of Gladstone and Port Alma are at Maritime Security Level 1

The Port of Gladstone can accommodate vessels up to 220,000 dead weight tonnes (DWT) and Port Alma Shipping Terminal , due to its sheltered location, can only take vessels up to 180 metres in length. Each year, more than 1,200 vessels visit the Port of Gladstone, with over 50 visiting Port Alma Shipping Terminal .
