Gladstone Marina gears up for B2B 2018
27 MARCH 2018
Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) Marina Team is counting down to the 70th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, with preparations well underway to welcome the fleet to Port City.
A 100 metre pontoon is being installed and secured at O’Connell Wharf to berth the race frontrunners, while giving the community a front row seat to the finishing line action.
Gladstone Marina Superintendent Ian Plath says his Team is very excited to be part of the milestone event.
“The Marina Team has been involved in the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race for the past 30 years,” Mr Plath said.
“We begin preparations months in advance to ensure the 75 race vessels are well looked after when they arrive in Gladstone.”
The Marina office will be open 24 hours a day over the duration of the race to accommodate the visiting vessels.
GPC’s work boats will also be on standby as safety response vessels during the race.
The race will commence at 11am on Good Friday in Brisbane, with Maxi yachts capable of completing the race in under 24 hours.
