Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal

The Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) is located at Golding Point, to the west of the existing RG Tanna and Barney Point Coal Terminals.

Once fully commissioned, the multi-billion dollar industry-owned and privately funded terminal will see over 80 million tonnes of coal exported, effectively doubling the capacity of the Port of Gladstone.

During the 2015/16 Financial year 7.98Mt of coal was exported from the facility.

Proponents

The terminal is owned by eight individual coal companies forming the WICET consortium, and is operated by Gladstone Ports Corporation.
