Our People
Our employees are critical to our success, so we provide a variety of training initiatives to build the skills and knowledge they need to not only enhance their own futures, but also that of GPC. We strive to be an employer of choice.

We employ 606 people (both fulltime and casual/temporary) to perform a variety of management, trade, technical and administrative duties at the Port of Gladstone and Port Alma Shipping Terminal. Our employees are offered stevedoring, port management-related and administrative opportunities, giving them the chance to develop a wide range of skills.

Through the provision of apprenticeships, traineeships, training sessions on health and safety issues, job skills and professional development courses, we are nurturing and developing the capability of our people.
We provide a rostered day off (RDO) program for our wages employees, and job share arrangements for some of our clerical-based positions.

The safety of our employees and visitors to our ports is paramount. We work to the National Safety Council of Australia’s (NSCA’s) 5-star safety rating system and continuously strive for improvement to our safety performance.

GPC proudly offers apprenticeships and traineeships, providing local young people with skills they require for a promising future. A Work Experience Program and Work Placement and Vacational Placement Scheme also provide high school and university students an opportunity to view, first hand, the many and varied career opportunities available at GPC.
